Stitches out

Today, Skye had her stitches out and it all looks great. Mark said that she had removed one stitch... which isn't bad considering how lively she was with it all. LOL

New teeth and birthday party

Skye has got all the front teeth replaced with the new ones now, and yesterday has lost her first canine too. So we are well on the way for the new set of adult teeth.

Yesterday I had my birthday party and Skye (and the boys) was brilliant - although she did try to get food as much as possible LOL

Doing well

Skye is doing really well after the spay op. Today, I finally managed to get the plaster off with the help of some vegetable oil LOL.

Skye has been wearing a t-shirt to protect the wound and stop her from getting to it and it works great, she hasn't once tried to get to it at all.

Since Saturday, she is completely back to normal, is as mad as ever... and I often close my eye so I don't see her acrobatics. But I checked the wound today and it all looks great.

Spayed

Skye got spayed today, at exactely 5 months old. All went really well and she is already back to her old mischievous self. Karen picked her up from the vet's as I wasn't able to take time off.

Resource guarding and new pictures

On Sunday I gave all the dogs a bone including Skye to clean their teeth. Skye got hers in the crate just in case... and just as well. Although she didn't actually chew on the bone, she guarded it ferrociously and even I wouldn't have put my hand anywhere near there.

So for now, no bones... and lots of work to be done. In all other situations so far, she is great now and doesn't guard at all. So we have made lots of progress there.

In the park, she is getting quite good with her attention and working and playing with me, but she is also getting a bit more confident and going further away. So lots more following exercises to be done.

Here are some pictures I took last night.

Skye's here and she is staying!

Skye is here. She arrived on Friday, 27th May. Skye is a working cocker spaniel born on 17th January 2011!

Skye came as a foster, but she will be staying! She is fitting in so well and although blooming hard work, she is great fun and doing fine.

Skye has been doing great since her arrival. Although Jesse wasn't too happy with her to start off with, within days he was no problem and now quite likes her. :-)

Flash's play with her is way too rough... he has forgotten how to play with dogs :-( He needs to learn again. Dylan also does his mad chasing, barking, scruffing play which I am also stopping as I don't want Skye to play like that with other dogs.

She is socialising well with dogs in the park, eventhough she got attacked by a small terrier last week. She has bounced back quickly though and is now happy to approach dogs again.

I took her to agility last Sunday where she got to mix in a large group of dogs off lead and she really enjoyed it.

She has started teething last week and has now a couple of adult teeth in the front. She is also chewing all the time at the moment, so has started on the carpet in the kitchen (not a problem) despite getting a stuffed kong every time I go out or Emily leaves them. Emily comes in twice at the moment until she is a bit older and although it is of course a long time to be on her own for a puppy (or any dog for that matte), Skye seems to cope well when getting a morning and evening walk to play and run off some energy.

I am doing lots of training in the park with her to teach her to stay close and listen even when her spaniel nose engages. She is doing well and enjoys the clicker training in the house and garden. Although she isn't quite as keen yet as say Jesse and she loses concentration a lot quicker than he used to, she is doing well considering I have only started clickering with her last week.

Here are the first pictures I took of the little girl.
